We have Windows 7 and Windows 10 Enterprise PCs on our Domain. Office 365 has been deployed to these machines by using the Office Deployment tool with a config file months ago. Until recently it came to my knowledge that Office 365 on Windows 10
machines are not doing updates through Windows Updates. When Office was deployed we had it set to be on the Deferred channel. At this current time if it’s a Windows 10 PC they are still on version 16.06741.2048. If it’s a Windows 7 PC it’s been updated to
version 1701 (Build 7766.2092).Further research on the updating process of Office 365 I see that a scheduled task «Office Automatic Updates» is created that performs the updating. While this executes successfully on Win7 it fails with error «Something went wrong
— Error Code: 30016-27» on Win10. Manually requesting an update while having Office open works or modifying the scheduled task to have «USER» instead of «SCHEDULEDTASK» in the argument of actions.Here is an example of the config file during deployment.
